What is Woodbine Pony Club?
_We are an active club affiliated with the United States
Pony Club. Woodbine Pony Club is dedicated to the education and
development of young horse people and their families. At all times we
seek to educate and inform! Our
club typically has one unmounted and one mounted meeting per month. We
also participate in most, if not all regional and national rallies and aid our members in progressing at their own pace through the certification levels.
Unmounted? Mounted? What does that mean?
_Unmounted meetings are usually held at Inman United
Methodist Church in Inman, Georgia on the first Monday of every month.
While these meetings don't involve our furry friends, they are
informative and tons of fun. The meeting topics change with the seasons
and the upcoming rally. For instance, February's topic of instruction
is Quiz prep., record books, and correct attire while June's discussion
is centered around trail riding and warm weather horse care topics.
Mounted meetings are presented in order for our members to gain experience and training in the various disciplines of Pony Club including show jumping, eventing, fox hunting, and dressage. Typically, our mounted meetings for the month are focused around the upcoming rally such as dressage rally in October. An outside instructor teaches members either individually or as a group in key skill areas that will lead to success at the rally.

What is a rally?
South Region hosts two unmounted and four mounted rallies a year: Quiz, Everything But The Horse, Eventing, Show Jumping, Games and Dressage. At each rally, Pony Club members are grouped into competition teams. The members of the team work together and are evaluated on all areas of competition, not only riding (if applicable) but helping one another and taking care of the horses using horse management guidelines developed by the United States Pony Club. Members must work together during rally because parents are not allowed in the barn! The organizers of the rally and officiants are available at all times to assist the members but teamwork and responsibility are key.
National Championships are held in the summer for those members who qualify at the regional rally. The United States Pony Club National Championships are held either at the Virginia Horse Park in Lexington, Virginia or at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Okay! What's a certificate?
Members earn certifications based on their riding and/or horse knowledge level. The lowest level certificate is a D-1 certificate and it indicates that a rider basic knowledge of horses and basic riding ability. The levels progress upward from there! To learn more about certificates click here.
So, sounds cool! What's the catch?
There isn't one. We grow together as riders while learning all about life's challenges and gifts. And we have a great time doing it!
